Hello Everyone We have some excellent drill results out today from the first 5 holes of the extended RC drill program at Cuiu Cuiu, which is targeting the Machichie target area immediately north of the MG gold deposit. One hole (RC421) in particular cut a bonanza grade intercept. Here are Alan’s thoughts. 1. The results from hole RC421 at the Machichie NE target located 650m north of the MG gold deposit are highly unusual and have surpassed our wildest expectations; - RC421 returned 11m @ 33.0 g/t gold from 50m depth in saprolite and weathered and altered bedrock including 4m @ 89.3 g/t gold from 52m depth
The intercept is partly in primary bedrock material and partly in weathered material and appears to be a new previously unrecognized zone of high-grade mineralization at Machichie NE. This has positive implications for the presence of additional ounces in weathered oxide material at Cuiu Cuiu, and more significantly, appears to be yet another E-W trending zone of mineralization that is similar to the Machichie Main zone and the MG gold deposit. 2. The result from RC421 is highly unusual. It actually ranks as the second-best drill hole ever drilled at Cuiu Cuiu (the best hole being 220m @ 2g/t gold which was drilled in the early days of the Central discovery). What makes today’s result even more intriguing is that RC421 was not drilled in either of the known main gold deposits at Cuiu Cuiu. It was drilled at a target (Machichie NE) which is located just 650m north of the MG gold deposit and in an area with very little previous drilling. It appears to have cut a previously unrecognised zone of bonanza grade mineralization. Thus far, we have no idea of the extent of this zone but we believe it is sub-vertical and extends E-W (just like the mineralized zones at MG and Machichie Main). Additional drilling is planned! 3. If the results from RC421 were not compelling enough, we also released the results from RC420 at the Machichie Main zone located just 150m further south. Whilst we have known about the Machichie Main zone for some time, we don’t yet have a resource (or indeed at any of the Machichie targets) yet. We have however completed the most drilling at Machichie Main and traced the zone E-W for 900m. Hole RC420, which we reported today, returned 25m @ 2.9 g/t gold from surface in weathered saprolite, including 12m @ 5.5 g/t gold. The result from hole RC421 is also important for 2 reasons; - It demonstrates the presence of excellent grades in near-surface oxide material at Machichie Main
- It also suggests the continuity of a high-grade zone of mineralization in both primary and weathered material for at least 235m along strike. Just like Machichie NE, this high-grade zone is open at depth and along strike
4. I have consistently maintained that the Cuiu Cuiu gold district is something special and as most of you know I have some history in the Tapajos, since Dennis Moore and myself were responsible for the TZ discovery (which is located next door and under construction). Cuiu Cuiu has a gold-in-soil anomaly which is several times larger than TZ and historical placer gold production which was 10 times larger than TZ. The management team is looking forward to unlocking the potential of the Cuiu Cuiu district and today’s results are a very positive step in that direction. |
